The Bureau of Meteorology has introduced push notifications on its BOM Weather app to provide more targeted advice to communities during severe weather.

A push notification is now available on the Bureau of Meteorology weather app to provide information to communities in the event of severe weather events and help them make informed decisions.

Push notifications feature six types of weather warnings: tropical cyclone, fire, flood, tsunami, severe thunderstorm, and severe weather.

“We are constantly looking to improve our services where possible, and we know that people are already using the BOM Weather app to quickly and easily get valuable information about rain, wind, temperature and warnings,” said said Sandy, general manager of decision support services for the Bureau of Meteorology. Weight says.

“People can now enable push notifications for their defined location and the BOM Weather app will proactively alert them when warnings are issued for those areas.”

Anyway, once installed and activated, a notification will appear on the lock screen of the person’s device whenever there is a warning about the set location. Users can also select the type of notifications they want to receive.

“We encourage everyone to keep up to date with our current warnings and forecasts, especially during extreme weather seasons, and this new feature will make it even easier to access simple weather information at your fingertips.”

Whight says people needed to update or install the latest version of the app for the push notifications feature to work, and the app will work on all supported operating systems.

“Users can submit feedback through the app’s feedback form in as much detail as possible to allow Bureau experts to continue refining and customizing the BOM Weather app to meet their needs.”
