SD Times News Summary: Facebook Releases Create React App 5.0; Elementary OS 6.1 available now; Updates from JetBrains Qodana


Facebook recently announced the release of Create React App 5.0, a major version bringing users many new features and the latest version with all major dependencies. Some highlights of the release include webpack 5, Jest 27, ESLint 8, and PostCSS 8.

Along with this, [email protected] also contains several breaking changes. These changes include the removal of support for nodes 10 and 12. Node 10 has now reached end of life. And Node 12 will be end of life in April 2022. Going forward, only support for the latest LTS version of Node.js will be provided.

Elementary OS 6.1 available now

The team at Elementary OS, a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu LTS, recently revealed the release of Elementary OS 6.1. This version is available for download for new users, as an upgrade for current users, and is available on many computers.

With this version, the focus is more on

  • Respond to comments with features and fixes
  • Make the basic operating system more useful with office productivity features
  • Expansion of compatibility with a range of hardware

JetBrains Reveals Qodana Updates

At the end of 2021, JetBrains announced several new updates to its code quality monitoring platform, Qodana. The first of these updates is the availability of Qodana 2021.3 for ARM.

In addition, Qodana Community for JVM, Qodana for JVM EAP and Qodana for Android EAP 2021.3 are also now available. Qodana JS 201.3 EAP is also available, providing users with advanced WebStorm IDE code checks for JavaScript.

Additionally, Qodana for Python 201.3 is currently in EAP and JetBrains has recreated its GitHub action which supports out-of-the-box GitHub captures, report downloads, and pull request annotations.
